Hats at The Royal Wedding

In British society hats complete an outfit for special occasions. In the African American culture hats are customary as well. We've selected a few chic hats and a few ummmm not so chic hats. You be the judge...

Victoria Beckham at The Royal Wedding

I absolutely loved Victoria's entire look! She was haute and very fashionable. It is reported that Mrs. Beckham designed her dress and Mr. Beckham looked sharp in Ralph Lauren. Philip Treacy designed the pillbox titfer (hat). Christian Louboutin custom made Victoria's shoes, costing over £1,000 and her envelope clutch bag was by VB. Although Victoria is expecting she continues to set trends. What are your thoughts on Victoria's look?

Oooohhh La La!

I could only imagine ballerina stilettos to be extremely uncomfortable to walk in. However, a few celebrities have been up on the challenge. The amazingly and artistically designed stilettos have been around since 1896 when they were hand crafted in Europe. Another common predecessor to ballet boots is the Viennese fetish boot which came about around 1900. These boots sported a dramatic 11-inch heel. It was impossible to stand or walk in these boots as the heel was actually longer than the sole of the shoe. I'm a certified shoenista and the shoes are haute but I don't know if I can do it. What do you think?

Designer Spotlight

Natischa Harvey is an African American shoe designer. Fever shoes is a billion dollar shoe company. The funky, fly, and fashionable shoes can be seen on a wide range of celebrities. Vivica Fox and Raven Symone are two of Harvey's biggest supporters. It was always Natischa's dream to become a shoe designer and she knew that her dream would take alot of hard work and dedication. At the age of 19 she married her high school sweetheart (a professional athlete) while enrolled at Clark Atlanta University studying Political Science. Needless to say people close to Natischa was very shocked when she decided to take a job at Bakers during her sophomore year. Did she need the $6 an hour to survive? Of course not, but she did need the knowledge of operating a store. Natischa had a plan. In 2004 she opened her first boutique. After four years and two additional stores later Harvey was ready to market her own designs to the world. Fever shoes typically range from $59.00- $250.00. After reading Natischa's story of being a  young mother, wife, entrepreneur, hard working, and driven woman I became reinspired. I'm a fan and I ordered my first pair of fever shoes yesterday. Visit fevershoes.com and support a woman that had a dream and chased it down. Her shoes are also very chic, affordable, and stylish.

Skinny Jeans Move Over

Skinny jeans are still trendy without a doubt. However, people are seeking an alternative and designers have revamped the 1970's bell bottom trend. Wide leg jeans have been spotted all over the fashion world and said to be one of the hottest must have items for spring 2011. Men and women both are embracing the wide leg trend. Please don't misinterpret this season's wide leg or bell bottom with the 1990's style of jeans/ pants that were cut very slim down the thigh and flared below the knee cap. A high waisted cut will give more of the desired 1970's vibe. Keep in mind that the material of your pants, shirt/ blouse, accessories, and shoes will create a multitude of looks. Have fun and send pictures!
